Tell us a little bit about you and your passions in life.

I am a freelance fashion stylist based in Melbourne.  And I have a passion for delicious things, good conversations and things that involve my dog, Raf.  I also, conveniently, love consuming in the Arts and Fashion :)

Jade, you are one creative soul & know how to create a head turning outfit….Are there specific fashion houses, designers, artists that you look to for creative energy and style?

Aw, thank you!  I love Raf Simons and Nicolas Ghesquiere for their simplicity and silhouettes.  I love what Cordon Salon is doing, Ella is such a unique talent. And my style icon is Giovanna Battalgia Englebert forever.

Which is your favourite parfum from the Mihan Aromatics’ collection and why?

My favourite parfum is Guilty Story. I love the woody sweetness

Can you recall a specific scent memory that stands out to you?

I've always been very sensitive to scent and smell. My favourite memory is, strangely not that pleasant technically, but certainly brings me a sense of familiarity and comfort.  Every term break we would fly into Hong Kong as kids (when the HK Airport was still on Hk Island) and as you step off the plane onto the jet bridge there is an instant smell that hits you that is so iconically Hong Kong. It's a mix of gasoline, humidity, tarmac and home.  I wish I could bottle that smell up.

Has scent ever influenced your creative process as a fashion stylist?

I'm a big fan of layering my scents like I layer a lot of my outfits.

If yes, can you share a specific instance where a fragrance sparked inspiration for a fashion look or collection?

I think scent acts as more of a memory trigger than inspiration.  Not to say I am not inspired by certain fashion moments.  There are certain scents that remind me of a very particular time in Melbourne, that 2012 era where the arts and fashion communities would have parties almost every week. I think it's a mix of cigarettes, laneways and leather.

We would love a few fashion tips for Winter 2024…

This winter I am playing a lot with proportion. Oversized, layering and layers of scents on clothes.

Where would we spot you on the weekend?

Table 1 Napier Quarter or La Perla courtyard in summer

Thanks to Jade & friends for capturing these images xx oo
